If I have a case in New York that sends money to Massachusetts and the case close in New York does it automatically close in ma?

Q- I’ve been faithfully paying child support in NY. It has been close since my son is 21 turning 22 but still paying arrears and NY and NY is sending child support to Massachusetts which they are not deducting any of the money NY child support sends. I only owe NY 2620.20 and I’m done. I have a print out of the money being sent to them. I just want to know how to get rid of Massachusetts child support. Will they close if NY close.

A– Assuming it’s just 1 order you’re talking about, it was a New York court order & was never made into a MA order (i.e., MA is merely enforcing NY’s order), then the underlying order should terminate upon emancipation of the child. That said, MA may continue to collect the same amount of support to satisfy the arrears until they’re all paid off. Schedule a consult with a Bronx Child Support Attorney for a full assessment.
