Will an order of protection ruin my chances of being a Nurse/ License?

Q: Pending Order of Protections on me to my ex, and ex to me. It was an emotional abuse situation where I was used for acts and he was with other women behind my back, lied to, manipulate- all in a text- him admitting to hurting me and “destroying me” however in this intense anger from it, I cut up his clothing and threw it on his lawn, and my friends messaged him telling him and the new womans family how bad he is. Our petitions both state we just want no contact, a DIR was filed on me, but no charges. I just want to know if I should give up on the nursing now. I just want it all dropped do I have any rights?

A: Not necessarily. Any particular employer or prospective employer may ask whether you have any current restraining orders against you or any findings that you’ve committed domestic violence. For this reason, you’d want to make sure to have a good attorney representing you in Family Court. Schedule a consult with a Bronx Domestic Violence attorney for a full assessment.
