Can you serve papers on Veterans day?

Q: I need to serve the mother of my kids. The problem is it has been hard to catch her. I have a small window of opportunity to do but it is on veterans day. I cannot afford the cost of a process server and my case is approaching. I read online that you cannot serve on a religious holiday.

A: Technically it’s correct service – unless you have reason to believe (for example) she’s a Veteran and is celebrating that day. Otherwise, the only (general) prohibition is service of a summons on a Sunday. Schedule a consult with a Bronx family Law Attorney for a full assessment.
