Q: Regarding child custody and visitation. Father was ordered supervised visitation with our son with his family member as the ordered monitor. Father missed one of his supervised visits due to him going out of town. He has requested if he can makeup those 3 hours he missed on his next supervised visit to make his next visit that day a total of 6 hours. Am I obligated to agree to that? What happens if father misses a supervised visit?
A: You’re not obligated to make-up the time – especially if he cancelled with short notice. Visitation is a right, but not an obligation. That said, consider that there may be times you’d want to re-schedule access days/times on your end – and if you’re inflexible, so might he be.
