If my daughters grandmother request visitation rights with her petition in family court, can I deny them?

Q– I wanna know if I’m able to deny visitation rights of my daughters grandmother since I already set multiple boundaries for her to respect me as my daughters mother (as well) as advising to her that I would consider her coming to visit my daughter in the privacy of my home (since this is where she primarily and has been spending most of her time) within my supervision. She agreed to this but then two days after her and her mother came out in a very nasty / rude way but tried to flip it and make it seem as if I’m the problem via text message (I have proof of this). My daughters grandmothers mom also had expressed to me via text that if I don’t want to allow her and her daughter to see my daughter then she “has enough grandkids anyways.” As if she’s disowning my child from her and her daughter not getting their way since my daughters grandmother asked me last minute (same day) to come see my daughter after we had the discussion for her to schedule for visits that will be supervised in my home until I feel comfortable giving my daughter up in her care. I expressed I’m not allowing her to see my daughter and keeping record of the conversation as evidence to prove my point.

A– The Court will certainly take your preferences into account in whether or not to grant visitation. That said, generally the Court will not decide such issues absent a trial on the case. As such, you should consult a Bronx Child Custody attorney for a full assessment.
