I live in the Bronx, NY, but I married an undocumented immigrant in Connecticut who now lives in Texas. Can I get a divorce if he has gone no contact?

Q: I was married in Connecticut to an illegal immigrant who resides in Austin Texas while I live in Bronx, Ny. We were in contact for a while but he has gone no contact. I have informed him of wanting a divorce but if I text him he does not respond and if I call him and he realizes it’s me he hangs up. But in the beginning he would contact me back. Am I eligible for a divorce? Even if he doesn’t sign and notarize the papers.

A: If he’s unwilling to sign the consent, then the only other way is to have him served with the divorce summons. As such, you must retain a process server and/or P.I. to track him down & get him served. Call a Bronx Divorce Attorney for more info.
