How long does it take for a judge to issue a divorce decree in Westchester County?

Q: We filed for divorce in September 2022. We were assigned a judge on 11/29/22. It is an uncontested divorce . How long should we expect to wait for the judge to sign the divorce ?

A: Assuming the papers were submitted properly – and the compete judgment package was summited in November – then it generally takes 1-3 months for the Judgment to be signed in Westchester. That said, it may take longer depending on a variety of issues, such as whether corrections need to be made, court backlog, etc. For more, call a White Plains Uncontested Divorce attorney.
