How do you respond to a lie in court?

  • By: David Bliven

Q: Situation: you’re pro se in family court and your ex blurts out a lie. How do you respond when in that instant you can’t prove it’s not true.

A: Twofold: (1) seek to present rebuttal evidence, (2) back their testimony into an illogical corner. If their answer seems illogical in the face of other evidence, then the Judge may draw an inference against them that they’re lying. Schedule a consultation with a Westchester Family Law Attorney for a full assessment.
