Does dollar for dollar credit only apply while the child is away attending college?

Q- My son is completing his freshman year in college in another state. My ex husband took a dollar for dollar credit for child support last year, which meant that I received no child support for the time my son was away in college. This coming year my son is renting an apt with some other students and the lease is a yearly contract starting this June. However, my son will be home from May to August. Can my ex take a dollar for dollar credit for the summer months because of paying for some of the cost of this apt for the whole year? He is supposed to pay me $1000 a month and his share of the rent would be $600.

A– Most likely yes, as “room-and-board” (unless the agreement says otherwise) simply means housing & food. You’re encouraged to schedule a consult with a White Plains Child Support attorney for a full assessment.
