Child support “offset” my support order after I successfully payed off arrears?

Q: Child support agency in MD working with NYC has inaccurately offset my child support order. When the case was originally open, the amount that I was expected to pay was entirely too much. I also had arrears from the beginning. So I went to court to try to challenge the arrears and lower the amount that I have to pay monthly. I was only able to get the monthly support order reduced . For the next three years Child Support payments were taken from my paycheck and tax returns were completely garnished to pay arrears. I also had a lawsuit settlement with my previous employer in which more than half of my settlement was garnished by Child Support, which resulted inall the arrears being paid off. Shortly after, CS attempted to garnish my tax return, but I argued that my arrears had been paid off and they had no right to do so. Eventually, they mailed me a check of my tax return but right after I received it, I also received a letter from Child Support stating that my case “offsetto be paying more than the adjusted amount since 3 YEARS AGO till today. Child support is claiming that the adjustment was only for a month however, they have only been garnishing the adjusted amount
