Can I press criminal charges?

  • By: David Bliven

Q: I am in the middle of a divorce… long story short, there is a full stay away protective order against my ex including third party contact. My ex’s new girlfriend has been consistently harassing me for the last 2 months. I have filed several different police reports and have documents everything. Yesterday she called my job…. Today she called again over and over again speaking to different people talking trash about me, to the point where my job fired me for it causing so much drama…. I am now ready to press criminal charges against his girlfriend no matter what it takes. What are the chances of getting her arrested for this? And how do I proceed within court?

A: I can’t say whether the police would do anything or not. That said, if you have an OP as part of the Divorce case, or issued by Family Court, then you can also file a Violation petition/motion with the Court. Schedule a consult with a White Plains Domestic Violence Attorney for a full assessment.
