Can financial matters in a settled divorce be changed?

  • By: David Bliven

Q: All financial matters are to be split related to our daughter and her activities along with her schooling. Wanted to know if I could change this. 1/2 for school uniform, Girl Scouts, swim classes, dance class along with my regular child support.

A: It depends on whether you already have a signed settlement agreement in place. If you do, then generally you’d need to prove a “substantial change of circumstances” in order to modify such provisions. Schedule a consult with a Westchester Family Law attorney for a full assessment.
