Can a second job increase child support, even if you no longer work at that job?

  • By: David Bliven

Q- For the first six months of the year I worked a second job. It pay good! Six months later my child’s mother filed a petition for modification. The second job was to pay for family vacation and previous lawyer fee. I stop working that job months before she filed.

A-Bottom-line: all incomes counts for child support purposes. That said, if your (total) income + mother’s income exceeds the statutory cap ($163k), then the extra income may/may not have an effect on the amount. Schedule a consult with a Bronx Child Support attorney for a full assessment.
