Q: I was married 5/8/16. We have an initial interview on 8/7/17 with USCIS. My wife is asking me how soon we can divorce after she is issued a green card. I’m not 100% sure with the whole process. Can someone please explain to me.
A: David’s Answer: If the marriage has irretrievably broken down for at least 6 months, then you can file immediately (or as soon thereafter as you desire). How that affects the immigration application will be governed by the advice of an immigration attorney. For the divorce issue, you may call a Westchester Divorce attorney to schedule a consult.
