Q: I make 14,000 a year , I have 2 children with my ex girlfriend I send her a month $400 . I see my kids every summer I pay for there plane tickets from Colorado to NY . She does not help me in anything she says you want to see them you pay . Well I pay ! I buy them clothes shoes and everything they need to start school . While they are with me she does not send me money nor I ask for money . I want to know if I should be paying more child support to her, is it to much or is it a good amount ?
A: Your income seems low, if you’re working a full-time job. If she wanted to, she could insist on a support order which would impute income to you based on full-time earnings at minimum wage. This would thus result in roughly 25% of a full-time minimum wage job. For more info, call a Westchester Child Support Attorney.
