When having a lawyer In a custody and child support case who does the talking in court?

Q: Just wanted to get an idea of what the benefits of having a lawyer. What normally happens in family court when a lawyer is present.

A: David's Answer: Usually in most pre-trial hearings, the lawyer does most of the talking. If you're comfortable that you know the child support & child custody laws (along with the thousands of cases construing those laws) as well as be sufficiently competent to then dispassionately apply those laws to the facts of your case, by all means represent yourself. Otherwise, most litigants benefit from having a lawyer represent them! Schedule a consult with a White Plains Child Custody attorney for a full assessment.
